There is an upcoming opportunity for BC homeowners to provide “missing middle housing” to their community while receiving up to $40,000 in funding to make it happen.
Our community is facing a critical shortage of “missing middle housing”, the Home Suite Home initiative empowers homeowners, like YOU, to play a crucial role in addressing BC’s housing crisis.
If you don’t know what the “missing middle" is you’re not alone. It is housing that is not an apartment and not a single-family home. Picture a basement suite, townhome or carriage house.
Starting in early 2024, homeowners can access a forgivable loan covering 50% of the renovation costs, up to a maximum of $40,000 over five years. Over time, this loan can be forgiven if homeowners meet all program conditions, including renting their unit out at below-market rates for a minimum of five years. This pilot program aims to assist at least 3,000 homeowners during its initial three years.
